Repairs

It was brought to my attention that some of the links were dead. Just after fixing them all, so they should all be fine now.

Disco-ver

After my 21st, where we drank alot at mine and I handed some internet music and general DJing duties over to Chareth Cutestory. I found all the gems in which Chareth downloaded for me. Some of my favourites come from the "MiamiHorror" crew coming all the way from Melbourne with their unique disco reworkings of current and past classic tracks. I would put my neck out on the line and say they were electronic aswell in their producing, however they seem to quote that as being dead on their myspace page. Oh well. They have still, undeniably created some of the best reworkings I've heard in a while so I give them props for a great night in which they ampoungst others soundtracked.

Miami Horror- Don't Be On With Her

Miami Horror- Music Sounds Better

One of the other memorable tracks of the night would have to be the remix of Smells like Teen Spirit.

Bra-sex-tronic

Browsing the music blogs to find some quality, quality!, techno electro is a class. Came across this fella yesterday, Gui Baratto, a Sau Paulo born composer and producer who only started to hone in on his musical talents in 2005. He's definitly a name to look out for in the future after the release of his recent album "Chromophobia".

Ocean's Twelve

Half watched this film at the weekend. Got fixated with trying to find the music from the lazer beam sequence, after two hours or so I eventually found it. Pretty sure Daithi played it at Dano's.

The original of the song is by french rap outfit "La Caution" and has been brought to attention with the help of Vincent Cassel and the artistic group of whom which he is involved in.

Pan's Labyrinth??!!!

Ok, just finished watching 'Pan's Labyrinth'. Got into watching it thinkin it was a nice light hearted film for kids like 'Narnia' or something. Not people getting a Chelsea smile, legs cut off, tortured, shot in the face, not to mentioning the freaky bugger above.WTF. Other than my surprise to what I thought I was gonna be watching, and what it actually was, it's a brilliant movie. Bloody wierd but still amazing.

All Tomorrow's Parties

Was alerted to this festival by me boy Messy a couple of weeks ago. Looks shit hot with the likes of Modest Mouse, Mogwai, Built To Spill, Explosions In The Sky and The Notwist to name just a few. The festival fully involves the fans who vote for acts in which they want, which then produces a top 100 list. The ATP organisers show the progress and availibility of the acts in which they have tried to book and who are unavailable. Which is nice. Gutted though on the otherhand, cuz it's during a packed month of May, thus I won't be finished college. Grrrrr!
To be informative, the festival takes place at Butlins in Sommerset from May 18th to 20th. Here's the Line Up.

Here's some tracks;

Built To Spill- Randy Described Eternity
Mogwai- Take Me Somewhere Nice
Explosions In The Sky- Catastrophe and the Cure
The Notwist- At One With The Freaks
Modest Mouse- Dramamine

A Slow Day

My day of being hungover is nearly at an end. Beer and toplessness, always a striking combination. Above is the music from the T Mobile add which drove me nuts for ages trying to find out who it was by. The answer, Arthur Russell-This Is How We Walk On The Moon.

Some memorable tunes from the previous year of college laziness;

About-Stack Of Marshells

Mew-Zookeeper's Boy

Broken Social Scene-Stars And Sons

Modest Mouse-Paper Thin Walls

Explosions In The Sky in the UK

After buying tickets to see Explosions in February for the Manchester Academy in April, I was pleasently surprised to find they how a new album out while I wondered into HMV. "All Of A Sudden I Miss Everyone" provides a little softer yet more elegently structured side to Explosions In The Sky's previous works. Like most Explosions' albums, they provide a journey of immense sound and intensity, a soundtrack to your life.

A Beirut Welcome

Beirut are a band that have started to come into their own recently with their most recent album "The Gulag Orkestar". Zach Condon the main orchestrater of this outfit provides a an eastern european gypsy sound, which although wierd at first, becomes ever progressively heart warming. This version below of "Scenic World" is a reworeked version from his album which is available from his "Lon Gisland" ep.
